A one day workshop on opposition parties in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe will be held on April 20, 2018. The event will take place from 9am to 6pm, in the Centre for Social Science Research Seminar Room, and is sponsored by the Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa. Questions for discussion include:
How successful have opposition parties been in overcoming fragmentation and forging a united opposition behind a single presidential candidate?
What have they learnt from past defeats?
What are their prospects in future elections?
What role do issues of ideology and policy play in opposition politics?
Have opposition parties established integrated organizational structures?
How do voters view opposition parties?
