The PPA project seeks to improve the quality of information about political parties that is available to citizens, policy makers and the academic community. We do this by collecting data, developing online resources, providing analysis, and partnering with organizations and researchers around the world.
On October 29, 2019 Matthias Krönke, PhD student at the University of Cape Town and member of the Political Parties in Africa network will present his research on the role of political parties in providing basic services such as education, health care, electricity and water to ordinary citizens in Africa. The talk will take place at 12:50pm in the Centre for Social Science Research Seminar Room.
We are excited to announce that we have now begun to collect data on the formal rules governing political parties in Ghana. This is part of our collaboration with the Political Party Database Project. See here for more information.
On Wednesday September 4, 2019 members of the Political Parties in Africa network will speak about the role of political parties in conducting free and fair elections and solidifying democracy at the “Democracy in Central and Southern Africa: The Road Ahead” conference.
On Saturday August 31, 2019 members of the Political Parties in Africa network will present new research on party behaviour in Africa at the 115th Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association.
